European Recognized Specialist in Zoological Medicine (Small Mammal Medicine and Surgery)

Vladimír Jekl is a 2002 graduate of University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno, Czech Republic, where he serves as an Associate Professor at the Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic. He is also an adjunct professor at the Purdue University, USA. He earned his PhD in small mammal dentistry in 2006. He has practiced exclusively exotic animal medicine and since 2009, he has been European Recognised Specialist in Zoological Medicine (Small Mammal). He has lectured extensively thorough Europe and the USA and he has published more than 350 articles in regional and international journals. He is the co-author of the BSAVA Manual of Rodents and Ferrets, 2nd ed; BSAVA Manual of Rabbit Imaging, Surgery and Dentistry, Clinical Toxicology and others. He was the editor of the Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice issue - Reproduction. He also lectures and provides practical workshops of small mammal medicine and surgery worldwide.

MVDr. Karel Hauptman, Ph.D.

Hauptman Karel graduated from the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno in 1999, where he is now employed at the Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic as an assistant professor. In 2005 he earned his Ph.D. in Small mammal medicine. As a teacher, he participates in both theoretical and practical training of students at UVPS Brno. He also trains veteriary practitioners in small mammal medicine. He is the author or the co-author of publications dealing with exotic animal medicine. He is the co-author of books Clinical Toxicology, Principles of inhalation anaesthesia in small animals, and more. He is one of the tutors of courses teaches the courses for Animal Welfare and Experiments Certification. In practice he is concerned with medicine of small mammals.
